Catherine Meunier
Her interest in accessibility took shape during her master’s studies in architecture, where she observed how frequently the built environment overlooks the needs of people with disabilities.
Her architectural background gives her a strong understanding of the context, constraints, and opportunities involved in implementing meaningful change. She advises clients on accessibility and contributes directly to advancing inclusive design across projects and portfolios.
During her studies, Catherine worked as a research assistant on ‘Quality in Canada’s Built Environment: Roadmaps to Equity, Social Value and Sustainability,’ under the supervision of Professor Jean-Pierre Chupin at Université de Montréal. Her research focused on accessibility and the experiences of neurodivergent individuals in the built environment. She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in architecture from Université de Montréal.
A French Canadian from Montréal, Québec, Catherine offers bilingual services and supports clients across Eastern Canada. Outside of work, she is a competitive dancer and enjoys creating small art projects.
Darcy Poitras
With a background in public health and recreation management, Darcy supports multi-site and large-scale public and private organizations in advancing inclusion in the built environment and beyond.
With more than eight years dedicated to accessibility — including five years with the Rick Hansen Foundation and three years as an independent consultant — Darcy’s experience spans accessibility assessments, policy and code alignment, program development, and implementation support across campuses, portfolios, and capital projects. Darcy also served for seven years as head coach and coordinator of Victoria’s para-ice hockey program.
Darcy currently contributes to sector standards through the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification Technical Subcommittee and has previously served on the Victoria Wheelchair Sports Club Board of Directors and the OneAbility Inclusive Recreation Committee.
Known for translating policy and best practice into actionable, site-specific solutions, Darcy is passionate about improving experiences for everyone. Outside of work, Darcy can be found cycling, running, or hiking; planning the next trip; listening to or making music; and experimenting in the kitchen.

Her expertise spans the built environment, inclusive programming, and accessible technology. Shalaine has contributed to research at Holland Bloorview Hospital, the University of Toronto, the University of Calgary, and OCAD University, with a focus on accessibility in the built environment, rehabilitation programming, and inclusive communication.
Before joining the Rick Hansen Foundation, Shalaine worked as an Accessibility Advisor in post-secondary education, where she led initiatives to remove barriers and support learner accommodations.
Based in Toronto, Shalaine enjoys playing soccer and is always on the hunt for a great new coffee shop.
