Access In Motion is the Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF)’s consulting division, providing expert accessibility advisory services to help organizations create spaces that are more welcoming, intuitive, and easier for everyone to use.

Access In Motion operates within RHF and supports its mission to remove barriers in the built environment. Our work is grounded in the Foundation’s leadership in accessibility, including the RHF Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC).

We combine technical expertise, lived experience, and a design-led approach focused on real-world use. Our connection to RHF and RHFAC allows us to offer both strategic guidance and practical tools to support meaningful, measurable progress.

No. While RHFAC is a powerful tool, many of our projects are not pursuing certification. We tailor our advisory services to your goals, whether that includes certification or not.

We help organizations understand where they stand, prepare for assessments, and coordinate the process. We work in collaboration with RHFAC Professionals, who conduct the formal ratings.

Early engagement is ideal, especially during planning and design. That said, we add value at any stage — including existing buildings, retrofits, and multi-site portfolios.

No. While the built environment is central, we also consider operations, policies, and how spaces are used — all of which shape the overall accessibility experience. (Note: We do not provide digital accessibility services such as WCAG compliance.)

Yes. We work internationally and adapt our approach to local codes, standards, and cultural contexts, while applying Universal Design principles.
